Children's Mindfulness and Meditation

Who am I?

My name is Kimberley Barrett.   I am a mum to Seth 8 and Lyra 6 and I live in Ripon where I have worked in childcare for the past 16 years, predominantly in pre-school settings with children 3-5 years. For the past year I have ran sensory play sessions and football sessions for children 2-3 years.  I also nanny for a family with older children. I have an accredited Meditation Teaching Diploma and an accredited Diploma in Mindfulness. I also have a NVQ level 3 in children’s care, learning and development; and have attended many courses for professional development. I am paediatric first aid trained and fully insured.  I have up to date Safeguarding and Prevent Duty Training along with an Enhanced DBS Certificate.

 

Why is this important to me?

 I have 2 children who have both benefitted from the power of meditation and mindfulness, which has made me want to pursue this further.  As a mother and childcare practitioner I have seen the stresses children face even at a young age. School work, exams, playground upsets, family problems, the effect of social media, and the ever uncertain world around us is resulting in sleeplessness, low self-esteem and tantrums due to not being able to understand and manage their feelings.   Guided meditations, positive affirmations and mindfulness can aid them in their ever busy lives.
